Your host and South African War raconteur and registered tour guide, Raymond Heron, will accompany you to the many historic sights. He paints a vivid picture of the personal trauma and military mind set of the time, that resulted in the slaughter of so many British and South African soldiers. Tours to the battlefields can be made in the comfort of air-conditioned vehicles or on horseback.
Other activities include, bird watching, sunset boat cruised on Spionkop Dam, game viewing from air conditioned vehicles or on horseback amongst the Rhino, Giraffe and a variety of antelope which can be seen along with over 270 bird species…. fishing, hiking and white water rafting, as well as visits to rock paintings and caves occupied by the KhoiSan (Bushmen).

Directions: Centrally situated on the R600 midway between Johannesburg and Durban, 20 minutes off the N3.
From Johannesburg: aprox. 350km on the N3. Take the Exit 230, turn left towards Ladysmith, take the R600 to the right, travel 19km to the Lodge.
From Durban: 240km on the N3. Take the Exit 194, left to Bergville. One km out of Winterton take the R600 to the right and travel 16km to the lodge.
