How "SHE" popped the question:
I took full advantage of the leap year and proposed to him on 29 February. We were driving home from a friends birthday and he looked at the clock (it was 11:54) and told me that I still had time. I was a bit slow and asked “Time for what?” Then it dawned on me! So I asked (in a really silly joking voice) “Will you marry me?” And he said yes. Then one of those stupid “Really?” “Yes” “No, really” “YES” conversations happened ... and that is how we became engaged. He told a friend later that he had been waiting the whole day for me to ask!
The Dress:
A white Thai silk dress with sparkly organza overlaid on the bodice and in a panel down the front with diamante beading on the bodice. It was made to hire by Clare at Bridal Flair.
The Suit:
The suit was bought from Woolworths.
The Bridesmaids Dresses:
The one dress was made by Clare from Bridal Flair and the other was made in Cape Town.
Colour Scheme:
Mainly white and silver with touches of pale sage green and baby pink.
Flowers:
I had mixed flowers – roses, lisianthus, carnations, small lilies, wax, chrysanthnums.
The Ceremony:
The ceremony was held on the deck outside the Sunbird Room at Pine Lodge.
The Reception:
This was in the Sunbird Room and we had a 3 course buffet.
The Cake:
It was a 3 tier cake covered in white icing with pink and green polka dots. The bottom layer was a dummy layer, the middle was carrot cake and the top was death by chocolate. It was made by Werner at Starburst Deli.
The Photographer:
Heather Stevens Photography. She is fantastic! She made us feel so at ease while doing our photos which was great because all our photos look natural. No forced grins anywhere!
Decor:
The hall and deck were beautifully decorated by Belinda at Elegant Affair.
Music:
Craig Hort from Enjoy Productions. He was a really good DJ – he could sense the mood of the guests and played the right music accordingly.
The Honeymoon:
We spent 5 days in Cape Town doing all the tourist things that we never have time to do when we are there! We went to Table Mountain, Stellenbosch, Cape Point, Darling and drove up the West Coast.
Brides Tip:
Relax and enjoy the day. Things might go wrong but there is nothing that you can do about it and none of the guests will even notice! The day goes by so quickly so make the most of it!
Special Moments:
Our first dance! It was choreographed by a friend of ours and we nailed it! It was to I’ll Be There by The Parlotones.
